It’s been a lot of fun to think of and test creative ways to use our Switchels. Although we’ve posted just a few recipes, you are only limited by your imagination. If you like what you’ve created then go with it! As you can see below, we added elderflower liqueur to the Mistletoe Martini and then tried sparkling elderflower water in the non-alcoholic punch. It was received so well we paused there. Now it’s up to you to test, taste, share, enjoy! And one last point, don’t be afraid to tweak the recipes below to suit your own tastes!
Mistletoe Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Elderflower Liqueur
3-4 oz Cranberry Maple Switchel
Garnish: 2″ peel of orange zest and 3 fresh cranberries
Sugar for rim (Mix finely grated orange zest into sugar)
Glass to use – Martini
1. Prep the garnish. Weave the orange slice onto the cocktail pick.
2. Moisten the rim. Using the orange wedge, rub it along the glass at a slow steady pace to make it even. Remove any pulp or seeds that get on the rim.
3. Dip the glass in the sugar mixture. Turn it upside down and dip it in firmly, as if the glass rim has ink on it and you’re trying to stamp a perfect circle in your sugar. (I like to freeze the glass at this point.)
4. Add ice, vodka, Elderflower Liqueur and Switchel to shaker. Gently mix or not!
5. Strain into a martini glass.
6. Top with the garnish and add cranberries.
Alternative – For a longer drink, use a highball glass and top with sparkling water or wine.
Christmas “Bellini”
3 oz Cranberry Maple Switchel
1/4 oz Triple Sec
3 oz Sparkling Wine
2″ peel of orange zest
Garnish: Orange slice, 3 fresh cranberries, mint sprig
Glass to use – Champagne Flute
1. Rim glass as above.
3. Twist orange peel over glass and ensure orange oil goes into glass. Drop peel into glass.
4. Add Triple Sec and Switchel to glass. Top with sparkling wine.
6. Top with the garnish.
Christmas Punch
3 oz Cranberry Maple Switchel
3 oz Elderflower Sparkling Presse
Garnish: Orange slice, 3 fresh cranberries, mint sprig
Glass to use – Rocks
1. Rim glass as above, if desired.
2. Add ice, Switchel, and Presse to glass.
3. Top with garnish.
Alternative – Make a big batch and serve at your next party.
With alcohol – Add 1 1/2 oz vodka to the mix listed above.
